Hi parents,
I'm looking forward to doing the photos at Nurture & Bloom again at the end of February! Read on for some information like how to dress them, what happens on the day and what happens after.
Class Photos
Class photos are on Thursday the 27th of February. Please feel free to come by if your child is not usually there at that time - I cannot Photoshop in any missing kids for these. Here are the times I will be doing class photos:
Whio Room at 9.30 AM
Mohua Room at 10 AM
Tui Room at 10.45 AM
Individual Photos
The individual photos will be on these days:
Mohua Room - Thursday 27th of February from 11 AM
Whio Room and Tui Room - Friday 28th of February from 9.15 AM
Send me a message if you would like to include a school-aged sibling in the photoshoot, so we can pick a good after-school time on one of these days. You can also message me to arrange an individual shoot for a child that is not usually at Nurture & Bloom on their designated day - I can let you know the best time to come in.
There is no cost for the session itself. You can decide after you have viewed the photos if you would like to buy them. If you would prefer your child not to be photographed, please let one of the teachers or Katrina know beforehand.
Prices
$20 for one photo of your choice
$50 for all individual photos of 1 child + class photo included free of charge
$80 for all individual and sibling photos of multiple children within the same family + class photo(s) included free of charge
All photos are purchased as digital files and you are allowed to have them printed at your preferred place.
Preparing Your Child for Photo Day
Try to refer to photo day as something fun, that will set them up for success. On the day, I will be working my hardest to make it fun and stress-free for the kids, hopefully catching some lovely smiles. We will be taking photos for 5-10 minutes and I hope to capture at least 5 wonderful photos per session. I have props and games and songs to get them engaged and happy.
It does happen sometimes that kids are a bit scared or not in the right mood for photos. If a child shows up upset/scared/tired, I will let them watch other kids for a bit first, or I will ask the teacher to bring them later to try again. For some, I can also have a try at the end of the day with the parent there whenever that's possible. Sometimes that makes a difference.
If your kid is old enough to understand, it helps to show what it is going to look like beforehand. The kids setup will look like this:

Dressing Your Child on Photo Day
You have a choice: it can be what they would normally wear for daycare, or something a bit more fancy/put-together.
I usually tell people to go for plain clothes without logos/lettering on them, but it's all your choice. Patterns like plaid are all good, but try to avoid narrow stripes as they can become distorted on professional cameras.
If you're not keen on formal-looking photos, feel free to let your child's personality shine through. They can wear a shirt with their favourite character on it, and a few have even turned up wearing a superhero or princess dress in previous years. Those will be very fun to look back at when they're older.
Whio and Tui parents, don't forget that your child will be photographed in the class photo on the 27th and then individual photos on the 28th. Mohua parents only have to worry about outfits on the 27th.
A Little Note on Long Hair
The biggest piece of advice I have for hair is to make sure it looks good straight on. A single ponytail will completely disappear straight on, so I suggest styling your child's hair either loose, to the side (think Elsa) or with two ponytails or braids. This is also a hairstyle that comes across well on photos:

What happens after?
I will be editing photos for about a week and putting them on a site called Shootproof so that everyone can view the photos privately. You will get a link to your private gallery along with a password.
If you like the photos and want to buy them, you just get in touch with me quoting your child's name and the password (so that I know you are the one who is allowed to buy those photos) and I will send you the payment info.
Once that comes through, I will send through the high-res digital photos through a website called WeTransfer. You are allowed to have these printed wherever you like.
Sharing the Photos
Whether you buy the photos or not, I will keep them in an online storage archive for a few years. This has helped parents who wanted to buy the photos later, or had bought the photos but lost them.
Please contact me if you want your child's photos to be deleted from the archive.
I am not sharing these photos anywhere. You are welcome to share your own child's photos on social media, but not the class photos for privacy reasons.
That's all, please get in touch with me if you have any questions.
Kind regards,
Liz
